The 1-year-old

Hunter, my one-year-old son, is running Carina and I ragged. He has just learned to walk in the last few weeks, and now is one motor-vatin’ dude. In addition, something clicked in his little brain at 12 months and he is now convinced that he knows everything. I am assuming this is not going to change.

We are constantly purusing the little guy, and he is constantly exploring and learning about his world. It is exciting the way he picks up on stuff, both fun and frightening. I can only imagine what sorts of other things he will be doing by the time he reaches two.

Yesterday he was strolling around the upstairs hallway wearing his Winnie-the-Pooh hooded towel like a wizard’s cape, and nothing else. He carried the plunger out of the bathroom and paraded down the hall like a king holding court, smiling the entire time. That is, until his foot caught on the towel and as he fell, banged his head against the doorjamb. A royal procession turned to tragedy in the space of a nano-second.

Sometimes it’s fun being a dad.
